The Joys of Online Bidding

The old saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure" has aptly epitomized the success of the Internet auction site eBay. Who would imagine that eBay, the site that started as a virtual "flea market" in 1995 would evolved to become one of the world's largest market place, where you can find anything under the sun, whether old or new. From diet pills to prime rib (yes, the meat), diamonds to cars, eBay has them all.
One beauty in an auction site like eBay is that the consumer can also take the role of the seller. Got a shirt that isn't quite your style? Cash in on it. What to do with expensive music box you receive during Christmas? Sell it. However, there are certain guidelines that must be followed in order to sell. First you register. Then you have to place your credit card on file. Then you gather information like item description category and photos if any. You are not allowed to bid on your own auction, otherwise your account will be suspended. You have also to pay a certain fee, depending on your opening bid. Lastly, there's also a final value fee at the end of the auction, a certain percentage of the final sale price.
