Dr. Ned Roberto and Ardy Roberto, popular columnists and writers of MarketingRx features some marketing advice and useful tips on attitudes and mind-sets a marketer-entrepreneur must have if they want to succeed in their business ventures.
* M- Market - driven
A marketer- entrepreneur is always observing what the market or consumer thinks about his brand (product, service, company). They listen to the consumers and act to please them.
* I - Influential
An entrepreneur needs to have a leadership mind-set, the authors say. A marketer needs needs to be an influencer. He must be a person who can influence not only those below him, "beside" him but above him or those people at the top of the management board.
* N - Nimble
Marketers should have a nimble-mind-set. Nimbleness connotes flexibility. A willingness to accept change and compromise. It will help marketers guard against frustration.
* D - Discipline
Marketers are a disciplined and marketing savvy people and are willing to do the things that "failures often refuse to do."
* S - Selective
The marketing mind-set is focus. Marketers must focus and avoid going into too many brand extensions. Say, in positioning your brand, you want to be so many things to so many people. In the end you must choose and sacrifice.
* E - Enthusiastic
Enthusiasm is the "E" factor in marketing. For the true-blue marketer, marketing is a calling and not just an ordinary job. It's an act of service. How excited are you about your product or service ? If the "E" factor is absent, then it is probably time to do some soul searching to rediscover the true value and purpose of marketing.
* T - Trust
The authors say the winner in the marketing game is the one who is able to tell the truth in the best possible way. Marketers should have a "trust above all" mind-set.
